Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station

Shanghai Hongqiao is one of the largest railway stations in Asia and Shanghai's principal high-speed hub, handling the Beijing–Shanghai line plus trains across the Yangtze River Delta. It sits in the Hongqiao transport complex right beside Hongqiao Airport, with three metro lines in the basement.

This station serves the following high-speed lines:

• Beijing–Shanghai HSR
• Shanghai–Hangzhou HSR
• Shanghai–Nanjing Intercity

Major destinations: Beijing, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Nanjing, Hefei.

Metro connections

• Line 2 — Direct to People's Square, Nanjing Road and Pudong Airport.
• Line 10 — To Xintiandi, Yuyuan Garden and the old town.
• Line 17 — West toward Qingpu and Zhujiajiao water town.

Airport transfer

Hongqiao Airport (SHA): adjacent — 5–10 min walk or one metro stop. Pudong Airport (PVG): ~50–60 min by Metro Line 2 (direct), or ~60–80 min by taxi.

Boarding & gates

Clear security at the entrance, then check the big departure boards for your waiting hall and gate (检票口). Scan your passport or e-ticket at the automated gate ~15–20 minutes before departure. The station is huge — allow 40 minutes from arrival to boarding.
