Chengdu East is the city's principal high-speed hub, a short metro ride east of the centre. It handles the busy Chengdu–Chongqing line, the Xi'an–Chengdu mountain route, trains toward Kunming, and the long high-speed runs east to Shanghai and Guangzhou. Two metro lines connect it to downtown.
